Dancing Bug: One year later

It's been one year since our wonderful girl Dancing Bug was adopted. When she came to Grey Haven, Dancing Bug had a badly broken leg and required two surgeries. You can revisit Bug's amazing journey back to health here.

I was going through some photos and found this one of Bug which has never been seen here before. It's Bug en route to Grey Haven in Spring 2008, broken leg and all.

Dancing Bug.

And here she is in fall 2008 after surgery and healing at Grey Haven. That's Bug with Bill, her adoptive father!

We love to help greyhounds such as Dancing Bug get the medical care that they sorely need. But we can't do it all ourselves. Visit our how you can help page (there are FREE things!) and see what you can do to make a difference in the lives of retired racing greyhounds and help them find loving adoptive homes.

I was so happy to pick Dancin' Bug up from Brian in Lake City. She stole my heart from the very beginning. She was the perfect passenger driving her to Sparr, FL. The week after her surgery was the week Liz and I spent at Grey Haven in May 2008 and we were able to care for her for the week that Marilyn was out of town at the GAFNE picnic. During that week she stole BOTH of our hearts. I will love Bug always.
I have a few other "unseen" photos from her GUR and week with us. How can I post them for all to see this LUV BUG? The first pic is her in the back of the luxury Honda Odyssey GUR van!

It was a pleasure taking care of this girl with Dione during our weeks pawcation at Greyhaven. We had to remind her daily even though she was feeling better she couldn't run and play just yet! She is such a sweet girl and so very lucky to be in her forever home being spoiled rotten! I loved the dancing bug the vet tech made for her leg wrap, I know we have a picture of that somewhere.

Wow, has it been a year already? Bill and I would like to thank everybody who was involved with getting Bug into our lives. Yes, Marilyn, I was hesitant about adopting another girl so soon after losing Ladybug only a few months before, mostly because I thought cancer might be genetic and we'd wind up going through that pain again too soon. But this sibling is as opposite as she could be. Where Ladybug was painfully shy; Dancing Bug is as outgoing as she could be. She loves all our company, horns in when she thinks someone else might be getting some attention, is great at meet and greets, tolerates children and strangers and, boy, can she eat! She's upbeat, energetic, and noisy. So thanks to all and we promise to take good care of the Bug.
