December 30, 2008: Ringo update from his adoptive mom Debbie:

"I can't thank [Greyhound Adoptions of Florida] enough for all you have done for these wonderful dogs and for bringing Ringo into our lives.

Ringo has settled in quickly and seems very comfortable and content in his new home. He is getting lots of love and enjoying walks on the leash, exploring our neighborhood.

We have a nice sized fenced yard for him to run in, but he seems to be pretty serious about retirement and doesn't choose to stay outside too long. Maybe the thirty-something degree temperature has something to do with it :=)"

I have to thank all of you for caring for Ringo along the way and leading him to our family. He is settling in so well and seems truly happy and content. I cannot say enough good things about this dog and I have been gushing like a new mom all week!

He has been a perfect gentleman since he moved in and is incredibly smart (with a bit of a stubborn streak- because he is so smart.) He comes, crates and lays down when I tell him to and is pretty good with "stay."

He is doing great with my two cats, now that they have come out of hiding. When he is laying on his side and they come to investigate, the only way you can tell he notices is that one eye and one ear will perk up for a moment before he sighs and closes his eyes again.

He is inquisitive and very food motivated so he likes to investigate the kitchen counters. But, he has quickly learned that when we are cooking or eating he belongs on his blanket and not in the kitchen. So far, he has not decided that my shealing slippers would make a good toy (though he gave them a good sniff before walking away on his own.) With a start like this, he will soon earn broader access to the house when we are home and go from crate to partially confined when we are at work and school.

The rest of the family is enjoying him as well. Though my husband (who is not a "dog person, yet) is not too pleased with the sleeping arrangements. I put a bed on the floor in our room and Ringo stays there all night. However, he spends much of that time grooming himself (he's a noisy licker) and stretches and shakes out several times a night. Every time his ears slap when he shakes, he wakes up my husband. After three nights of no sleep, one of the two of them is going to have to find a different place to sleep ;>)

I'll post some nice photos when I get home this evening. I'd love to find out more about what Ringo had been doing between his last race in 2007 and when he moved into Grey Haven.

Ringo was in Orlando racing. Greyhound data no longer keeps up with race results. He went to the farm- where we keep our adoptables, and he was always a happy bouncy boy. His brother John is there now and waiting for a home.
As for the licking, you can tell him to stop-- I have a noisy licker here too.

Ringo continues to do do Greyt! Everyone is sleeping happily in the same room now (sometimes with the help of earplugs). Ringo enjoys the run of the house when we are home and stays in the kitchen when we are at work/school. There he has plenty of room to walk around, play with his toys and watch the squirrels.

He loves to go on walks in our neighborhood and loves riding in the car, especially if its to the pet store. His colorful personality is really beginning to shine. He is very good at letting us know what he wants, which usually has something to do with food/treats, belly rubs or playing with squeaky stuffies.

Well Ringo has found a reason to like the autumn weather up north. Take a look at this video of him playing with my other two boys in the leaf pile.

I had got a desire to begin my company, but I didn't have got enough of cash to do that. Thank God my close colleague proposed to take the credit loans. So I took the college loan and realized my desire.
