HollyHolly's foster (and newly adoptive) mother Chris Gilardi, asked us to share this story of how a fostered greyhound fit in so well at her foster home, it became a permanent arrangement.

"I have to tell everyone who looked at Holly and decided for one reason or another that she’s not the dog for them that they really missed out.

Out of the seven dogs I’ve had the privilege of fostering on behalf of Greyhound Adoptions of Florida, Holly has been the most sweet and loving.

Holly came to my house a little shy and full of energy. She learned to made good use of the backyard and even plays fetch. Within a few days all the shyness melted off of her.

Within her first week as a foster, Holly had slipped into the home routine and acted like she’d been living with me for years. The second week she figured that I would go to the gym, and that was OK, but me leaving for work was not to her liking.

She hid all over the house after going outside before I went to work. It has become a part of my routine now; get ready for work, let the girls out, fill food and water, bring the girls in, and look for Holly.

When I come home from work, my other greyhound, Capri, is happy to see me, but not excited. Holly, on the other hand, wags her tail and wiggles like she’s made of Jell-O.

Holly and Capri
Holly is a huge fan of the couch, especially when there is someone to cuddle with on the couch. She’s a licker - a sneak attack licker at that.

She’ll nuzzle you into a false sense of "doggy Zen" then lick your face till you fall over. She’s also a huge fan of anyone who will pet her.

Holly is a hit at the vet’s office and even tried to go back with one of the groomers because everyone had pet her while she was back in that area.

Holly
Holly loves car rides. She’s one of two fosters who would go into my garage and wait by the car, barking at me that it’s time to go out and have fun ... even if it’s 9:30 at night and I just needed to take out the kitchen trash.

Holly
I was very concerned while fostering Holly that she would be harder to place; she's a bit older and had the least popular color of coat. But I thought that her sweet personality and open affection would surely get her a home.

The longer I fostered her the more I realized she’d be one of those really hard dogs to let go of. I’m so very glad I won’t have to now."

Bless you. Don't have a clue about the least popular color of coat. It's not about color. Its about the love and attachment when you meet that right one. We just lost our black greyt to bone cancer and he sounded exactly as affectionate as Holly.
