Adoptable Greyhounds GUR'd to GAFNE!

Arrow, Briar, Henry and Twist made the trip from Grey Haven to GAFNE on Saturday. They had an early 5am start from Grey Haven and completed their journey with the help of many wonderful volunteers. A huge thank you to Marilyn, Janet, Dione and Clinton, Jennifer, Mary, Phyllis, Kathy, Amy, Nancy and Kelly for chauffeuring these wonderful dogs!!

Arrow, Briar and Henry went to foster homes and are adjusting wonderfully to retired life!
Twist continued her journey up to NY to meet her new mom. Congrats to Twist for finding a great forever home!

Twist gets an early birthday gift

Twist had a wish, Marilyn had a hope and today their dream came true. Twist now has a home to call her own with a forever family who will love her and treat her the way she deserves. Happy early Birthday Twist! We couldn't be happier for you and wish you much happiness, lots of love, a comfy couch and a big basketful of toys.

This beautiful brindle brood needs a home

Arrow is a beautiful brindle brood who just turned 7 in May. She has had two litters, was bred once more but nothing happened! So we got lucky and picked her up before she had yet another litter. She is one very special young brood.

She is so friendly that she would be a phenomenal meet 'n greet dog! We are really enjoying her antics while she is here with us. Cats are still an issue though she may be workable. She can handle the little dogs as long as they don't get in her face.

She is active and healthy and can have a fenced yard or not. Her goal in life is to get close to her humans and have a family of her own.

Arrow would love a sponsor while she waits for a home.

Henry is the sweetest boy

Our Henry is one very special boy! He came to us from a place that allowed him to be about 15 pounds underweight and have a raging urinary tract infection. He is now on his way to regaining his weight and his health.

This is one of the most special doll babies we have had in a long time. It is obvious that all he wants is a mom and dad who will love him as much as he loves them!

Henry can live happily with smaller dogs and cats. He can't live with dogs who may pick on him as he is a very gentle boy.

Henry would love to have one or more sponsors during his stay here at Grey Haven. Would you consider sponsoring him?

GAFNE Doggie Wash, June 19, 2010

We raised $671!!! We washed 36 dogs and finished 16 nail trims in 90 degree weather for the GAFNE Annual Dog Wash fundraiser. Summer may not officially be here yet, but it sure felt like the dog days of summer arrived today. Thanks to all the volunteers and people who supported this greyt event benefitting GAF greys.

Carrabba's lunch fundraiser: Sat., Sept. 25, 2010

WHAT: Carrabba’s Italian Grill Lunch Fundraiser for GAFNE, Chadd’s Ford, PA

WHEN: Saturday, September 25, 2010 – 11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.

WHERE: 102 Painters Crossing, West Chester PA 19382 (map)

WHY: Eat delicious food, visit with friends and help GAF’s retired and adoptable greyhounds.

Purchase tickets for lunch now.

MENU: Chicken Marsala or vegetarian Tagliarini Picchi Pacchiu with vegetable, salad, bread, non-alcoholic beverage and Sogno Di Cioccolata "chocolate dream" dessert.

COST: $20.00 per person. Tickets MUST be purchased no later than September 20, 2010.

All proceeds benefit the greyhounds in GAF’s care.

NOTE: Tickets will NOT be mailed to you; they will be held for you at the event.

Callie broke her hock on the track and had ortho surgery on the 4th of June, 2010. She is here at Grey Haven resting comfortably in her crate.

Callie has eight to 10 weeks of crate rest and leash walking ahead of her, then her new life can begin!!

She is sweet and loves everyone! She gives the best kisses and you can tell she is happy to be here.

Lightfoot (aka Syd) has been adopted

Our sweet boy Lightfoot has a new home - he's been adopted!

He also has a new name: Syd! Congratulations to Syd and his new family from everyone at Greyhound Adoptions of Florida.

Jack: This greyhound is ideal for an older owner

Jack came back to Grey Haven when was returned because his elderly "mother" passed away and there was no one in the family to take him.

He can be very shy, but once he trusts you, he is fine. His world belongs to the family he lives with. He would be a perfect only dog for an older person.

Jack celebrates his 10th birthday in June 2010. Happy Birthday Jack! All he needs now is a great birthday present: A new home!

Luna has been adopted!

Just a quick note to share some greyt news: Luna has been adopted!

Luna is an active, happy girl who loves to meet new people and thinks that life is one big adventure now that she has been adopted.

Luna was sponsored by Elizabeth Kriebel and Kay Fellows while she waited for an adoptive home. Thanks to Elizabeth and Kay for their support!

Everything is an adventure for Scooter

Scooter never went to the track ... actually he never got off the farm where he was born. He came to us on Easter Sunday lacking all his social skills and had the brain power of a toddler.

He loves the world ... everything is a great adventure for him and he is hoping that someday a wonderful family will fall in love with him and take him home so that he can continue to learn what it's like to be a big, grownup greyhound living with a family.

Scooter turns two in June 2010. What better birthday present than an adoptive home that he can call his own?!

Briar: Make this greyhound happy

Briar is lovely fawn girl who will be five in November, 2010. She has been in a home before and would love to be part of a family once more.

It has been determined that she will need to be with other dogs ... this is where she is happiest.

She has had some medical issues that for the most part have been resolved. If you need more information, please contact me at mvarnberg@embarqmail.com or call me at (352) 671-5333 for details.

Briar is just too sweet to spend much more time in the kennel and is always looking for a special family to love.

Fran: Gentle brood who will melt your heart

This lovely dark brindle girl is a ten year brood who does not look or act her age! She is a love ... plays nicely with the other girls and loves meal time!

Fran is excited to meet all the visitors and would be thrilled to find a family of her own. While she likes all the other dogs she's met, she will not be good with cats.

She will only sleep on the hard floor of her crate. Each night she manages to push every soft blanket to the front of the crate and prefers the back of the crate on the floor! Go figure!
