Well, I will always miss my Nancy no matter what time of the year. Nancy was 10 1/2 when her lucky moment came and Marilyn and Bob rescued her from that nasty breeding farm she had been on for years. Nancy was a subdued personality who just did her turn outs and back to her crate at the farm according to the lady that helped get her out of there...but my oh my, she was quite the opposite when she became a family member!
Nancy had a way to make everyone laugh...she loved living life...for the first time ever in her life and she never looked back. She insisted on going everywhere with me and did a crazy, howling, stomping dance to assure me she needed to go. And our favorite stop quickly became Dunkin Donuts. I would get back to the car with donuts in bag...and Nancy would be ready with her head resting on my arm and Stevie was right there with his head resting on my shoulder. And mom obliged and donuts were enjoyed...many times over :)
My funniest memory of Nancy was at a meet and greet at petsmart one saturday afternoon. A lady approached with her baby in the stroller and before she could ask or I could say okay....Nancy bee lined it to the stroller in an oh so happy way! I thought..."oh how nice...she likes kids...that's always cute"....next thing I knew Nancy's face dove into the corner of the stroller seat...she plucked out an animal cracker....then she turned and trotted off to the doggie beds and plopped down to eat her found treasure! The lady and I just laughed...how could you not! Nancy always knew an opportunity when she saw one...just like the day Marilyn and Bob rescued her from the farm.
My Nancy...always in my heart and my thoughts :)
